• Patient Preparation for Resting Gated Study (MUGA)

Thank you for choosing Miami Valley Cardiologists for your testing needs. The testing that your physician has ordered is expected to take about 1 hour. Your test includes the placement of an I.V. in your hand or arm to allow us to draw a sample of your blood, and re-inject that blood sample after tagging the Red Blood Cells with a radioactive material (please avoid long-sleeved shirts).

• Please bring your insurance cards and insurance referral if necessary and a list of the medications you are currently taking.

To ensure that your testing is completed with the highest level of accuracy and efficiency, it is important that the pre-test instructions are closely followed:

• You may take your medications as usual. Eat and drink as you normally would.
• After your morning shower please refrain from applying lotions or powders as it makes EKG and IV tape less effective.
• Please give 24 hours notice (223-4461) if you must reschedule or cancel your testing. This is important, as we order the test materials the day before testing.
